Product description
Kinnaur Walnut Oil Cold-Pressed, from ₹650, Rich in Omega-3
There are two types of walnut oil sold in India. The first is commercially refined extracted with heat and chemical solvents, then processed to remove colour and odour. The refining process that makes it shelf-stable also strips out the Omega-3 fatty acids, the Vitamin E, and the antioxidants that made it worth buying in the first place.
The second type is cold-pressed. That’s what we make in Kinnaur, from handpicked walnuts, without heat, without solvents, and without the processing that turns a genuinely good oil into an expensive version of refined oil.
At ₹650, our Kinnaur Walnut Oil costs more than a litre of refined sunflower oil. But you’re not using it the same way. A cold-pressed walnut oil is a finishing oil used by the teaspoon, not the cup. One bottle lasts a long time. The cost per serving is less dramatic than the price per bottle suggests.
Why Kinnaur walnuts make a difference
Walnut oil quality depends almost entirely on the quality of the walnut. Kinnaur’s walnuts are grown at 1,400–2,200 metres above sea level in orchard conditions that are naturally free of chemical inputs the altitude makes large-scale chemical agriculture impractical. Slower growth at altitude means denser, more nutritionally concentrated nuts and denser nuts make richer, more flavourful oil.
- All walnuts are handpicked from Kinnaur orchards and cold-pressed within the same season.
- No added preservatives, flavourings, or carrier oils.
- FSSAI Certified: Licence No. LC 13320010000175.
- Available at Himachal Emporium, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.
