Product description

Pure Himalayan Shilajit (10g), Genuine Resin from Kinnaur’s Rock Formations

The shilajit market in India has a problem that most sellers won’t acknowledge: adulteration is rampant. Cheap mineral powders pressed into resin shapes, synthetic fulvic acid added to basic brown paste, and diluted products are routinely sold as “pure Himalayan Shilajit.”

If you’ve tried shilajit before and noticed no discernible effect, the product you had may have contained very little actual shilajit.

We’ll tell you exactly how to test shilajit for authenticity, including ours. If what we’ve sent you doesn’t pass these tests, contact us immediately for a replacement or full refund. That’s how confident we are in what we source from Kinnaur’s rock formations.

Nutritional and traditional profile

Property / Compound Benefit / Detail
Fulvic acid (primary active compound) A natural chelator and antioxidant. Research suggests it may support mineral absorption, cellular energy production, and gut health. Kinnaur shilajit contains a high natural fulvic acid concentration.
Humic acid A related compound present alongside fulvic acid. Traditional Ayurvedic texts associate it with a broad tonic effect.
84+ trace minerals Shilajit is documented to contain over 84 trace and macro minerals in ionic form, including iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, and selenium.
Dibenzo-alpha-pyrones Compounds studied for potential mitochondrial energy support, the basis of some research into shilajit and cellular energy production.
Adaptogenic properties (traditional) Classified as a rasayana in Ayurveda, a class of substances traditionally used to promote vitality, longevity, and resilience.
Testosterone support (research) Some small clinical trials suggest shilajit supplementation may support testosterone levels in men, particularly in those with deficiency. Results are not definitive.

What genuine Shilajit is, and how it forms

Shilajit is a dark, sticky resinous substance that seeps slowly from rock formations at high altitudes in the Himalayas, Karakoram, and other mountain ranges. It forms over centuries, the compressed decomposition of organic plant matter between rock layers, slowly liquefied and pushed to the surface by geothermal pressure in summer months.

The result is a mineral-dense, fulvic acid-rich exudate that has been part of Ayurvedic practice for thousands of years.

Ours is sourced from Kinnaur's high-altitude rock formations, collected when it naturally seeps in summer, minimal processing, no synthetic additives, no dilution with water or mineral powders.

How to identify genuine Shilajit, the four tests

Test 1: The warm water dissolution test

Drop a small pea-sized amount into a glass of warm water. Genuine shilajit dissolves completely, turning the water a uniform dark amber or brownish colour.

Fake products either don't dissolve fully, leave undissolved gritty residue, or cloud the water without dissolving.

Test 2: The warmth test

Hold a small piece in your palm. Genuine shilajit softens and becomes pliable with the warmth of your hand. If it stays hard and brittle at room temperature without any change in your palm after 30 to 60 seconds, it's likely compressed powder, not genuine resin.

Test 3: Smell

Authentic shilajit has a distinctive earthy, slightly sulphuric, bituminous smell. It's not pleasant in isolation, but it's unmistakable.

Fake products are often odourless or have an artificially added mineral smell that's generic and flat.

Test 4: Flame test

A small piece of genuine shilajit held near (not in) a flame softens and may bubble slightly but does not ignite, catch fire, or produce a large flame.

Fake products often contain additives that flare or produce coloured flame.

How to take Shilajit

Dosage

Start with a pea-sized amount (approximately 100 to 150mg) once daily. Dissolve in warm water, warm milk, or herbal tea. Allow 4 to 6 weeks of consistent daily use before evaluating effects. Shilajit's traditional use is as a long-term tonic, not an immediate stimulant.

  • Morning use: Many practitioners recommend taking shilajit in the morning for energy and focus.
  • With milk: Traditional Ayurvedic preparation is shilajit dissolved in warm milk (ksheer paka). Particularly associated with strength and vitality support.
  • Dose progression: After 2 to 3 weeks, some people increase to twice daily. Do not exceed 300mg per day without guidance from a qualified practitioner.
